Australian Motor Sport Legend Peter Brock who will always be known as the King of the mountain was born on February 26 1945, died on September 8 2006 at the age of 61 years when his silver Daytona Coupe slammed into the base of a tree while he was competing in the Targa West Rally near Perth in Western Australia.
His achievements in the motor sport industry causing him to be a household name even by many who are not fans of the sport. What could be considered his most important wins:
* Winning the Australian Car Championship three times [1974, 1978 and 1980].
* He was labeled King of the Mountain for winning at Bathurst ten times [1972, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983,1984, 1987 and 2003].
* He also conquered Sandown winning nine times [1973, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1984.
A true Aussie legend whose name will always be recognized as part of the Holden racing team was inducted into the V8 Supercar Hall of Fame in 2001.
A true testimonial to his place in Australian motor sport was his recent inclusion on the board of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation in Melbourne.
