Leanne Coddington
2007 Telstra Queen of Country Music
Leanne Coddington is the 2007 Telstra Queen of Country Music and is sponsored by her employer the Tamworth Base Hospital.
Leanne is looking forward to the year ahead with her involvement in the community through her role as Tamworth’s ambassador for 2007.
Leanne was born and raised in the Gunnedah region on her family’s property with her parents and two older sisters. She attended Gunnedah Public and Gunnedah High School and was involved in school musical productions, school representative councils and she was named vice-captain of her school.
After leaving school Leanne undertook an accountant traineeship position for two years at a Gunnedah Accountants firm before deciding to pursue a nursing career. Leanne completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of New England, Armidale, in 2004. Having a real passion for rural and remote nursing, through out her university studies, Leanne had the opportunity, to experience remote nursing in the Northern Territory at Alice Springs, Kintore and Nhulunbuy. The experience was amazing and memorable.
In 2005 Leanne moved to Tamworth to commence work at the Tamworth Base Hospital, where she has remained working full time in the General Surgical Ward, aiming one day to move into the area of community health care.
Leanne enjoys playing tennis and oz tag, spending time with family and friends and working on the family farm. Leanne enjoys listening to all country music, but has a real passion for and enjoys playing and singing the traditional style of country music. Leanne plays guitar, sings and is learning the banjo. Leanne used to play in the Gunnedah area with her sister, who plays the violin, at local fundraisers but since moving to Tamworth, has only recently started to play for enjoyment in the Tamworth area.
The entertainment and the atmosphere at Tamworth’s Country Music Festival is amazing and is thoroughly enjoyed by Leanne and she looks forward to representing and promoting the Tamworth region and the Country Music Festival.
