The Newcastle Angel, Joanne Lambert, at the age of nine in 1988 was admitted into Newcastle’s Johnny Young Talent School.
In 1994 she became a member of the “Young Stars Talent Team”. They performed successfully at many venues from Newcastle and the Hunter valley all the way to Sydney.
In 1996 Joanne left the Young Stars to fulfil her dreams as a country music entertainer. She joined The Hunter Valley Country Music Association and also began attending country music nights at the Polish Hall in Maitland each Thursday night while entering country music talent quests whenever she could.
Her efforts culminated in 1999 when she won Newcastle Queen of Country at the Steel City Country Music Talent Quest resulting in her winning a six-track demo CD that was made in 2000. This CD received airplay on many stations on its release and still finds its way onto FM country music radio shows today.
It was through this win that Joanne was originally nicknamed The Newcastle Angel which is the stage name many refer to her as today.
January 2003 saw The Newcastle Angel as a support act for The Magnificent Seven NSW North Coast Tour which showed in Wingham, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Ballina and the Tamworth Country Music Festival, this festival being a regular stopover for Joanne.
The Newcastle Angel is a popular performer around Newcastle and the Hunter Valley where she appears frequently while also being the performing compare for regular shows on Sundays in Maitland.
For a decade now Joanne has supported many charities through performances at fundraisers including regular spots on both Ronald McDonald House and Westpac Rescue Helicopter events.
